Toronto police outline safety plan for Caribbean Carnival as Windsor steps up holiday patrols

Toronto Police Service chief superintendent Andy Singh and inspector Joseph Matys announced a robust safety operation for the Caribbean Carnival parade in Toronto. The plan includes increased visible police presence in downtown and waterfront areas, deployment of two drones to monitor crowds, and public advice for attendees to stay aware, keep valuables secure and report suspicious activity.

Windsor Police Service will increase patrols along the Detroit River waterfront for the Civic Holiday weekend. Officers will enforce boating safety rules, requiring fitted life jackets, limiting speed near shore, and imposing fines for impaired operation, open alcohol or cannabis on board, and other violations. Penalties range from $200 to $1,000, with possible licence suspension or jail time.
