Vancouver selects partner to pursue Major League Baseball expansion

The City of Vancouver has chosen The Show Vancouver Bid Corporation (TSV) as its preferred partner to develop a Major League Baseball expansion franchise. TSV is led by real‑estate developer Zack Ross of the Cape Group, and the city and TSV have signed a memorandum of understanding to guide the bid, explore potential ballpark sites and assess financing. Under the agreement TSV will bear all costs and financial risks of preparing and advancing the proposal, which envisions a new ballpark and mixed‑use development, though no site or budget has been disclosed.

Mayor Ken Sim launched the expression‑of‑interest process earlier this year, and MLB commissioner Rob Manfred has said the league hopes to grow from 30 to 32 teams before his planned retirement in 2029, but no official expansion has been announced. City officials say an MLB team could create jobs, boost tourism and provide a long‑term economic asset for Metro Vancouver.
