Toronto Tempo earns franchise’s first win as Indiana Fever clinches season‑opening victory

The expansion Toronto Tempo recorded its inaugural franchise victory on May 13, 2026, defeating the Seattle Storm 86‑73. Marina Mabrey led the effort with 26 points and six three‑pointers, while Brittney Sykes added 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Rookie guard Kiki Rice contributed 12 points off the bench. The win came after an early‑season loss in which the team shot just 27 % from the field.

Two days later, the Indiana Fever earned their first win of the season, beating the LA Sparks 87‑78. Star guard Caitlin Clark tallied 24 points and nine assists but was handed a technical foul after a brief confrontation with referee Jason Alabanza. Clark, returning from a season‑ending groin injury, said the biggest challenge remains “the mental hump” of trusting her body again. Despite the incident, the Fever’s offense surged to 104 points in a prior loss, and coach Stephanie White identified ball‑movement and transition defense as key areas for improvement.

Meanwhile, rookie Olivia Miles of the Minnesota Lynx is on pace to threaten Clark’s rookie assist record, having averaged 7.5 assists per game early in the season. Discussions about Clark’s pressure and career trajectory also featured veteran Diana Taurasi, who compared her own early‑career challenges to Clark’s current situation.
