Toronto Waterfront Marathon to host Canadian Championship

The TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon, a World Athletics Elite Label race, will serve as the official Athletics Canada Canadian Marathon Championship on October 18, 2026. The event offers an $8,000 CDN winner's prize and World Athletics points to assist with qualification for the World Athletics Championships in Beijing.

Defending women's champion Rachel Hannah and consistent competitor Dayna Pidhoresky are among the key athletes expected to compete. Other notable participants include Cleo Boyd, making her debut at the event.

More than 60,000 runners are scheduled to participate in the full marathon, half-marathon, or 5K races. The event is expected to raise over $6 million annually for more than 300 charities. Due to the race, significant road closures are expected in downtown Toronto and along Yonge Street on Sunday morning, alongside service adjustments on the Lakeshore West GO line.
