Aviation accidents reported in Italy and San Marino

Two separate aviation incidents occurred in late August. In the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola region of Italy, a two-seat autogiro crashed near the Campliccioli dam in Antrona Schieranco. The aircraft reportedly struck Enel service cables, caught fire, and plummeted down a steep slope. The two occupants, identified as Alessandro Angelo Muscinelli, 62, and Antonella Pagliarani, 63, were killed. Local authorities are investigating whether the flight was authorized and if the cables were properly marked.

In San Marino, a Tecnam P2008 monomotor belonging to the Eagles Aviation Academy went off the runway at the Torraccia airfield during landing. Witnesses reported intense wind gusts during the attempt. The aircraft was significantly damaged, but the pilot and instructor escaped without serious injury. Investigators are examining the impact of weather conditions on the landing maneuver.
