Torre Annunziata: Couple receives Italian citizenship after 16 years
After a sixteen-year journey involving significant bureaucratic delays and personal sacrifices, Therese and her husband Michel have officially sworn their oath of Italian citizenship in the municipality of Torre Annunziata.
Therese, who originally arrived from Senegal, expressed her emotions during the ceremony held in the presence of extraordinary commissioner Gianfranco Tomao. Reflecting on her experience, she noted the challenges of integration and expressed concerns regarding certain government policies related to foreign students in classrooms, advocating instead for values of equality and inclusion.
The couple, who met in 2009, described the achievement as the culmination of a long process of gathering documents and navigating administrative hurdles to secure a future for their family.
