Torre Annunziata municipality dissolved amid Camorra infiltration

The city of Torre Annunziata in Campania has been placed under a prefectural commissioner and its municipal administration dissolved after investigations revealed infiltration by the Camorra organized crime group. Former mayor Corrado Cuccurullo resigned, calling the accusations “grave and unfair.” The decision follows a similar dissolution of the Sarno municipality and adds to a total of four out of five Italian towns dissolved this year for mafia infiltration.
