Torre Annunziata: Police assaulted during illegal parking crackdown

In Torre Annunziata, issues regarding illegal parking and urban security have escalated following an assault on municipal police officers. In the Lido Nettuno area, an unauthorized parking attendant attacked officers with a stick, causing injuries to a municipal policeman and damaging a service vehicle. The suspect was arrested at the scene.

This incident follows local complaints regarding the misuse of pedestrian zones. Residents in Via XXIV Maggio have reported that a street intended for pedestrians has been effectively converted into a permanent scooter parking lot. Citizens have expressed frustration that the obstruction prevents mobility for the elderly, people with disabilities, and parents with strollers, noting the proximity of the Carabinieri station has not deterred the behavior.

Following the assault, Deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli of Alleanza Verdi-Sinistra criticized current regulations for failing to provide sufficient deterrence against illegal parking attendants. He called for stricter legislative measures and immediate arrests to protect law enforcement and citizens from intimidation.
