Torre Annunziata sets completion date for Archeo Oplonti center
Construction of the Archeo Oplonti cultural and tourism center in Torre Annunziata is scheduled to conclude on September 16, 2026. The project involves the redevelopment of the former Monsignor Orlando school, a site that has faced decades of abandonment, vandalism, and decay following the earthquakes of the 1980s.
The new facility will serve as a multipurpose hub featuring a virtual archaeological museum designed to link the Villa of Poppea with the Pompeii Archaeological Park. In addition to exhibition spaces, the center will include a congress hall, gardens, a refreshment area, and visitor services.
The project has spanned multiple local political administrations, with work officially commencing in October 2024. The final stages of the construction will be overseen by a special commission established in June 2026.
