Torre Centinela security tower inaugurated in Ciudad Juárez

The Torre Centinela, a 114-meter high security infrastructure project, has been inaugurated in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. Led by Governor Maru Campos and State Public Security Secretary Gilberto Loya, the facility serves as a command center integrating thousands of cameras, license plate readers, and specialized monitoring technology to improve regional security and response times.

While the technological capabilities of the platform are recognized, the project has faced criticism regarding its cost. Municipal authorities, including acting Mayor Cruz Pérez Cuéllar, have questioned the scale of the investment, suggesting that funds could have been directed toward other local needs such as infrastructure for rain damage. Concerns have also been raised regarding the long-term maintenance costs and which level of government will be responsible for the building's operational expenses.
