Torreense and Sunderland to meet in UEFA Europa League

Torreense and Sunderland are set to face each other in the second round of the UEFA Europa League league phase on Thursday. The match will be held at the Estádio Municipal de Leiria, as Torreense's home ground does not meet UEFA requirements.

Torreense, a second-tier Portuguese club, entered the competition following a victory in the Taça de Portugal. They secured their first European win by defeating Lillestrøm 2-1 in Norway. However, their domestic form has been inconsistent, sitting 15th in Liga Portugal 2.

Sunderland enters the fixture following a 1-0 victory over AZ Alkmaar in their opening match. The English side's qualification for European competition follows their recent promotion to the Premier League.
