Torrelabeja hosts XVI National Apiculture Fair in Cantabria

The XVI National Apiculture Fair of Cantabria was held in Torrelabeja, showcasing regional honey quality and discussing the future of the beekeeping sector. Organized by the Asociación Montañesa de Apicultores de Cantabria, the event brought together professionals, producers, and companies to address industry challenges such as climate change, hive health, protection against bear attacks, and product diversification.

Awards were presented to recognize excellence in honey production, with Mari Carmen Bermúdez winning for wildflower honey, César Gutiérrez for forest honey, and Siro Castrodeza for heather honey. The program also emphasized generational renewal and biodiversity conservation through workshops and educational activities.
