Torreón celebrates 119 years of history and growth

The city of Torreón, Coahuila, celebrated its 119th anniversary with a solemn session of the City Council held at the Convention Center. During the event, Mayor Miguel Ángel Riquelme Solís presided over the ceremony and recognized the recipients of the ‘Ciudadanía Distinguida 2026’ award for their contributions to the community.

Riquelme Solís highlighted the historical effort and vision of the generations that built the city, noting that Torreón has become a major economic engine in northern Mexico. He also emphasized the importance of coordination with Governor Manolo Jiménez, stating that joint efforts between the municipal and state governments have strengthened public security, attracted investment, and improved social, urban, and cultural infrastructure.
