Torreón Mayor Announces Major Revamp of Bosque Venustiano Carranza

Mayor Miguel Ángel Riquelme Solís inspected a comprehensive improvement plan for the Bosque Venustiano Carranza in Torreón, Coahuila. The project proposes a 150‑meter tartan speed track, a new gastronomic corridor to replace current stalls, additional picnic and recreational zones, and a second phase of reforestation to increase the park’s tree cover.

The plan also covers a full rehabilitation of the seven sports courts, completion of night lighting for the outdoor gym, and progress on a calisthenics gym now 90 percent installed. Recent maintenance of treated‑water ponds that feed the irrigation system was reviewed. To boost safety, the mayor called for increased police patrols, and announced a rise in cleaning staff from the La Ola service. Municipal Public Services director Fernando Villarreal Cuéllar accompanied the mayor during the visit.
