Torreón officials boost child welfare and nutrition programs for summer holidays
The honorary president of DIF Torreón, Selina Bremer de Cepeda, visited the Casa Hogar shelter to meet children and adolescents, stressing the importance of a safe, caring environment during the summer break. She cited the mayor Miguel Ángel Riquelme Solís' directive for continuous attention to the institution’s recreational, educational and health activities.
The municipal Public Health Department launched the summer nutrition course “Nutrimentes,” led by director José Manuel Riveroll Duarte. The program advises families to serve balanced meals based on the “Plato del Bien Comer,” emphasizing fruits, vegetables, whole‑grain cereals and protein sources while limiting sugary drinks. It also promotes daily physical activity, adequate hydration and regular rest for children throughout the vacation period.
