Torreón officials face fraud and organized crime investigations
Authorities in Coahuila are pursuing legal actions against several former officials in Torreón. Fernando “N”, a former public notary, is currently detained in Madrid, Spain, facing potential extradition for his alleged involvement in a real estate fraud case that has generated 65 complaints.
In a separate matter, former municipal officials José Elías “N” and Martha “N” are in federal custody facing charges of organized crime and operations with illicit resources. Public records and photographs have highlighted the display of high-value luxury watches by the suspects during their time in office, though officials noted that possession of such items does not inherently prove criminal activity.
The Coahuila State Attorney General's Office is coordinating with the Federal Attorney General's Office (FGR) to manage international legal procedures and continue investigations into these cases.
