Several high-profile criminal cases are progressing through the Mexican judicial system. In Coahuila, two brothers, David and Carlos 'N', face up to 60 years in prison for an attack at a Torreón secondary school that killed a sub-principal and injured four others.

In Sonora, a physician named Maximiano 'N' has been placed in preventive detention. He is under investigation for medical malpractice involving the administration of vitamin IV drips, which authorities link to eight deaths and 12 injuries in Hermosillo.

In Chihuahua, four police officers have been linked to a process for qualified homicide and torture following the death of a person in custody.
