Torreón water authority audit request still pending as governor vows legal action

Deputy Edna Dávalos Elizondo, coordinator of the State Audit and Public Account Commission, said the municipality of Torreón has announced its intention to ask the Auditoría Superior del Estado (ASE) to audit the municipal water and sanitation system (Simas), but no formal request has been submitted to the state legislature. She noted that no documentation has been turned over to the commission and that any extraordinary audit must first follow the proper institutional channel.

Coahuila Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas stated that if the ASE’s audit uncovers misappropriation or irregularities in Torreón’s municipal finances, the state will act in accordance with the law, applying the appropriate sanctions. He emphasized that the audit process will respect legal procedures and the rights of officials to present documentation and address any observations.
