Torres Novas municipality contests biomethane project location
The Torres Novas municipal council plans to propose a declaration of nullity regarding an administrative act linked to a planned biomethane unit in Árgea. The municipality is contesting the project's location, arguing that the selected site in the Olaia and Paço parish does not meet the necessary conditions for the infrastructure.
Mayor José Trincão Marques stated that the initiative, which has been reviewed by administrative law specialists, will be presented at an executive meeting in November. This action will proceed regardless of whether the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) has issued a decision on the project. The mayor emphasized the municipality's opposition to the site, asserting that the suggested location is unsuitable for the production unit.
