Italy healthcare updates: new equipment, protocols, and facilities
Various regional healthcare developments and updates are reported across Italy. In Perugia, Fondazione Perugia has donated medical equipment worth 2.25 million euros to the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital, including a MACSQuant Tyto Cell Sorter for hematology and a high-generation CT scanner.
In Milan, a new operational protocol has been established between Niguarda Emergency Room and the National Cancer Institute to ensure rapid care for oncology patients. Meanwhile, in Cosenza, the inauguration of a new cardiac surgery unit at Annunziata Hospital marks a significant milestone in reducing patient transfers.
Other regional updates include the recognition of Biancavilla Hospital as a prescribing center for severe asthma biological drugs, and the reorganization of the oncological network in the Isontino area, where Gorizia and Monfalcone will maintain diagnostic and therapeutic roles. In the Marche region, concerns have been raised regarding the continuity of tomotherapy services at Torrette Hospital due to service reductions and equipment obsolescence. Additionally, the Grisù association donated a refrigerator to the respiratory ward in Teramo to assist patients.
