Torrevieja named Valencian Cultural Capital for 2025

Torrevieja has been named the Valencian Cultural Capital for 2025. The distinction was officially presented by Carmen Ortí, the Counselor for Education, Culture, and Universities, to Mayor Eduardo Dolón during a gala held at the Municipal Theater.

The award, organized by the Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC) and the Torrevieja City Council, recognizes the municipality's artistic trajectory and the work of its various associations, institutions, and professionals. The recognition highlights Torrevieja's ability to integrate culture into public life through a diverse and year-round programming schedule, including symphonic music, opera, theater, and festivals.

Specific cultural landmarks cited include the International Habaneras and Polyphony Contest, the National Theater Contest, and the city's active music bands. The Valencian Cultural Capital designation is an annual honor awarded to municipalities that utilize culture as a strategic tool for economic development, social cohesion, and tourism promotion.
