Torrevieja officials demand action on N-332 road widening

Local authorities in Torrevieja are intensifying pressure on the Ministry of Transport to proceed with the long-awaited widening of the N-332 highway. The road, which serves as a vital link in the Costa Blanca South, currently handles more than 60,000 vehicles daily, with traffic levels surging during holiday periods.

Mayor Eduardo Dolon reported that the Town Hall has made over 100 requests for meetings with Transport Minister Oscar Puente or senior officials, but has yet to secure a formal discussion. The lack of a confirmed construction timeline means significant traffic congestion is expected to persist for motorists traveling between Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa.

The political group Sueña Torrevieja has called for a unified municipal stance to demand concrete commitments regarding financing, bidding, and execution dates. The group has suggested that if the Ministry fails to provide a verifiable calendar, they may organize broad citizen mobilizations involving local businesses, residents, and social collectives to advocate for the infrastructure improvements.
