Torribas expands Spanish agricultural operations into the south
Catalan company Torribas is expanding its agricultural operations into southern Spain through a partnership with Cádiz-based Finca El Tractor. This agreement, facilitated via Torribas’s agricultural division Finca Mitjana, provides the group with an additional 200 hectares of cultivated land in the Guadalquivir Valley.
The expansion allows Torribas to diversify its crop range to include carrots, broccoli, and beetroot, while strengthening its sweet potato supply. By operating in both the northeast and south of the Iberian Peninsula, the company aims to extend production periods, mitigate climatic risks, and ensure a more reliable supply of domestic products throughout the year.
Operations Manager Borja Casamitjana noted that the integration will facilitate the introduction of more export-oriented products and increase potato production, particularly during the Andalusian new potato season. Torribas currently produces approximately 50,000 tons of produce annually, primarily potatoes, onions, and calçots.
