Torrox celebrates International Tourist Day with festivals and awards
Torrox will celebrate International Tourist Day on Saturday, September 26, with a diverse program of cultural, sporting, and leisure activities across Torrox Pueblo and Torrox Costa.
In Torrox Pueblo, an artisan market will be held in Plaza de la Constitucion from 10am to 2pm, featuring over 30 stalls of handmade jewelry, local art, and crafts. The market will include live music from The Curry Boys and guest DJ Antonio.
The broader municipal program includes guided tours of Torrox Pueblo and the El Faro archaeological site, snorkeling in the Calaceite area, and a hieroglyphic writing workshop.
Festivities will culminate in a gala at the Balcón Mirador in Torrox Costa, featuring a performance by Juan Magán and a fireworks display at midnight from El Espigón. During the gala, Málaga Club de Fútbol and businessman José Luis López will receive the ‘Tourists of the Year 2026’ awards. Mayor Óscar Medina noted that tourism has been a primary driver of economic growth for the region since the 1970s.
