Tortona Diocese commemorates centennial of Mons. Giuseppe Scabini
The Diocese of Tortona and the local MEIC (Ecclesial Movement of Cultural Commitment) held a conference to mark the centenary of the birth of Mons. Giuseppe Scabini, known as Don Pino. The event, titled “Serving the Church, People of God on a journey in the World,” took place at the Seminary's Great Hall.
Born in 1926, Scabini held various roles within the diocese, including parish priest of San Matteo in Tortona and director of the Diocesan Institute for Permanent Deacons. He also spent nearly 30 years in Rome, serving as the spiritual director of the Pontifical Lombard Seminary and as a professor of ecclesiology and ecumenism at the Pontifical Lateran University.
Speakers at the commemoration included Mons. Nicola Ciola, a professor at the Pontifical Lateran University, and Renato Balduzzi, a professor of constitutional law. They highlighted Scabini’s dedication to the post-conciliar Italian Church and his collaborative work within various ecclesiastical institutions.
