Tortona, Pietrasanta, and Zduńska Wola launch Cities in Dialogue project
Representatives from the Italian cities of Tortona and Pietrasanta visited Zduńska Wola, Poland, to strengthen institutional and artistic ties. The delegation, which included Tortona Vice Mayor Daniele Calore and Pietrasanta Mayor Alberto Stefano Giovannetti, participated in a conference titled ‘Art in Small and Medium-Sized Cities: Opportunities and Challenges.’
The visit centered on the development of the ‘Cities in Dialogue’ project. This initiative aims to foster cooperation across cultural, economic, and scientific sectors. A key component of the project involves the creation of identical sculptures to be placed in the central squares of all three participating cities, serving as a tangible symbol of their partnership.
The relationship between Tortona and Zduńska Wola is rooted in the legacy of Saint Luigi Orione, who founded his first Polish community in Zduńska Wola and is buried in Tortona. The collaboration seeks to address common urban challenges, including regional promotion, sustainable tourism, and the protection of local traditions.
