Tortora: Two arrested for alleged abuse of a minor

Authorities in Tortora, Calabria, have arrested a woman and her partner following an investigation into the severe abuse of the woman’s minor daughter. The suspects face charges including sexual violence, family maltreatment, and the production of child pornography.

According to investigators from the Scalea Carabinieri, the couple allegedly used alcohol, cocaine, and marijuana to incapacitate the girl, reducing her ability to resist the abuse. The investigation also uncovered a pattern of physical and psychological violence and restrictions on the victim's personal freedom.

Following the arrests, a judge in Catanzaro ordered the suspects to be held in custody. Digital devices, including smartphones and computers, were seized for forensic analysis to determine if illegal material was produced or distributed. The minor has been placed under the care of her grandparents.
