Tortoreto hosts symbolic rowing against gender violence and honors soprano with regional award

The coastal town of Tortoreto in Italy staged a symbolic rowing on the sea as part of the eighth edition of “Remiamo insieme contro la violenza sulle donne,” a provincial initiative aimed at raising awareness of gender‑based violence. The event was organized by the Commissione Pari Opportunità della Provincia di Teramo together with the association Uomini, Donne ed Eroi del Mare, and involved local municipalities and citizens to convey a public message of solidarity.

On the same promenade, soprano Chiara Tarquini received the “Amore per l’Abruzzo” 2026 award. The ceremony, attended by the mayor Domenico Piccioni and other regional officials, recognized her contributions to promoting Abruzzo’s cultural heritage through music. Tarquini expressed gratitude for the honor and reiterated her commitment to sharing the region’s musical traditions.
