Tortoreto withdraws private parking concession project

The municipal administration of Tortoreto has officially withdrawn a project financing plan that would have granted a private entity control over paid parking management for 23 years. The project was intended to fund the redevelopment of the square in front of the Santissima Maria Assunta Church and a parking area on via Teramo.

The decision follows significant public opposition, including a petition with over one thousand signatures and various local demonstrations. Critics, led by the local Democratic Party and civic committees, argued the plan would impose a heavy financial burden on the community, estimating a total impact of over 10 million euros through increased user costs and lost municipal revenue.
