Tortorici road safety petition exceeds 500 signatures

The spontaneous committee ‘Strada Tortorici-Bivio Due Fiumare’ has announced that a public petition for the urgent safety improvements of the Fondovalle Tortorici-Bivio Due Fiumare road has exceeded 500 signatures.

The road serves as a vital link between the municipality of Tortorici and coastal and inter-municipal road networks. Proponents of the petition highlight several critical issues, including damaged road sections, potholes, invasive vegetation, inadequate signage, and a lack of proper guardrails. The committee emphasizes that road safety is a collective necessity for various users, including students, workers, emergency services, and agricultural vehicles.

Despite the community mobilization, the Metropolitan City of Messina continues to claim jurisdiction over the road following technical studies. The committee plans to formally deliver the petition to regional deputies and institutional bodies, including the President of the Sicilian Region, the Regional Department of Infrastructure and Mobility, and Civil Protection.
