Tortum Waterfall in Erzurum attracts hundreds of weekend visitors
The Tortum Waterfall, a UNESCO World Heritage List candidate located about 1,000 m above sea level on the Erzurum‑Artvin highway (km 110), saw a large influx of visitors over the weekend. The site features natural‑compatible walking paths and several viewing terraces built as part of recent environmental improvements. The waterfall is approximately 21 m wide and drops 48 m, creating a rapid flow that occasionally forms rainbows.
Hundreds of tourists, including visitors from Istanbul, came to photograph and experience the scenery. One visitor, Kerem Karataş, said, "It was my first time seeing a waterfall with such high volume and beautiful scenery. Going down, getting wet, and taking photos was a separate experience – very happy. The water is so fast that rainbows appear in places. It was worth getting soaked for the pictures."
