Toruń and Kaunas photography exhibition celebrates city partnership
A new outdoor photography exhibition titled “Toruń and Kaunas through the lens of photographers” is currently on display in Toruń, Poland. Located at Plac 4 Czerwca 1989 roku, the exhibition features 20 double-sided panels showcasing the architecture, daily life, and landscapes of both Toruń and Kaunas.
The project is a collaborative effort between Polish and Lithuanian photographers, developed over approximately two years. Polish photographers Jadwiga Czarnecka and Marek Czarnecki documented Kaunas, while Lithuanian artists Gintaras Česonis and Mantas Zinkevičius captured scenes in Toruń. To create a visual dialogue, the photographs were taken during the same period in late May and early June, ensuring similar lighting and seasonal atmospheres.
The exhibition utilizes various techniques, including black-and-white photography, color spherical photography, and the “little planet” effect. Some works include QR codes that allow viewers to experience 360-degree panoramas of Kaunas via smartphone. The display is available to the public until November 20.
