Toruń hosts 26th FAI World Precision Flying Championships

The 26th FAI World Precision Flying Championships are currently taking place at the Aeroklub Pomorski airfield in Toruń, Poland. The competition features approximately 46 to 47 pilots representing eight to ten nations, including Poland, Germany, France, China, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, and Slovakia.

Precision flying is a demanding discipline where success is determined by accuracy rather than speed. Pilots earn points through flight planning, navigation tasks, and precise landings. Penalties are assessed for deviations from designated routes, landing spots, or time limits. Specific landing challenges include standard landings, landings without using flaps, engine-off landings, and landings from over a gate.

The Polish team enters the competition as the defending team world champions, while pilot Michał Wieczorek is defending his individual world title originally won in France in 2022. The competition is scheduled to run through August 13, with the closing ceremony and medal presentations planned for Friday, August 15.
