Toruń organizers question removal of Skyway Light Festival

The organizers of the Skyway International Light Festival have raised concerns regarding the sudden removal of the event from Toruń’s 2025 municipal calendar. For 15 years, the festival served as a major cultural landmark for the city, blending art and science with themes of cosmic heritage and astronomy.

In a letter addressed to the media, the creators criticized the lack of official communication, public debate, or formal evaluation regarding the festival's discontinuation. They noted a paradox in the city's cultural policy: the project was abandoned less than two years after the adoption of the Toruń Cultural Development Strategy, which was intended to guarantee stable funding for such events. The organizers also questioned why a similar light festival is being organized in nearby Chełmno while Toruń’s long-standing event has ceased without clear explanation.
