Toruń to host new microforest planting events
The city of Toruń is organizing the creation of new microforests using the Miyawaki method, which involves densely planting native trees and shrubs to boost urban biodiversity. The project aims to create green enclaves that serve as habitats for insects and small animals while providing educational opportunities for residents.
Two planting events are scheduled for November. The first will take place on Thursday, November 5, at ul. Gagarina 130, between a residential building and Municipal Kindergarten No. 9. The second will occur on Saturday, November 7, at ul. Tymona Niesiołowskiego, located between a dog run and an outdoor gym.
These open events will feature an educational village with workshop tents. Led by landscape architect and nature educator Kasper Jakubowski, participants can engage in nature-based activities and practical workshops on establishing microforests. The organizer for the initiative is Forest Maker.
