Liguria 2030 report highlights blue economy and nuclear potential

The 10th edition of the ‘Liguria 2030’ think tank, organized by Teha Group in collaboration with the Liguria Region, highlighted the territory's economic strengths and strategic challenges. Regional President Marco Bucci emphasized the need for a long-term vision focusing on infrastructure, the blue economy, and high technology.

Valerio De Molli, CEO of The European House-Ambrosetti, noted that the blue economy is a major driver, with Ligurian ports handling one-third of all TEUs in Italy. The region leads nationally in terms of maritime enterprises, added value, and employment within this sector. Additionally, Liguria is a strategic hub for the nuclear industry, hosting 11 companies that represent approximately 15.7% of the national supply chain.

However, the report also identified significant challenges, including an aging population, a loss of talent, and low contributions from renewable energy. Strategic priorities for future growth include the development of underwater technologies, nuclear energy, artificial intelligence, and water resource management.
