Tory Lanez to Release Double Album While Serving Prison Sentence
Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, who is serving a 10‑year California prison term after being convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion, announced a new double album titled Made You Think I Was Gone…But. The project, set for release on July 17, will feature one disc of rap tracks and a second disc of R&B songs. Lanez says the vocals are captured through prison phone calls and later mixed by outside engineers, allowing him to continue producing music behind bars.
The release follows a series of prison‑era projects by Lanez, including Prison Tapes, Peterson and LOL: Slutty Bass. His approach mirrors that of other hip‑hop artists who have issued music while incarcerated, such as Max B, X‑Raided, C‑Murder, Lil Wayne, Shyne, Gucci Mane, Project Pat and Kodak Black. Lanez maintains his innocence in the shooting case and continues to appeal the conviction, but his musical output proceeds unabated.
