Tory Lanez Divorce Dismissed While He Remains Incarcerated
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge dismissed the divorce case filed by Raina Chassagne against rapper Tory Lanez (legal name Daystar Peterson) due to a lack of progress. The dismissal ends the proceeding without a final judgment on the couple’s marital status.
Chassagne had filed for divorce in June 2024, seeking legal and physical custody of their son Kai, but the case stalled while Lanez serves a 10‑year prison sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. The judge, David Herriford, noted that the filing had not moved toward a final judgment, leading to its termination. The dismissal does not indicate reconciliation; the marriage remains legally intact pending any future action.
Lanez was convicted in December 2022 of assault with a semi‑automatic firearm, possession of a loaded unregistered firearm, and negligent discharge, and was sentenced in August 2023. Megan Thee Stallion testified that Lanez shot at her feet after a dispute at a Hollywood Hills gathering. Despite the criminal case, Chassagne has continued to facilitate visits between Kai and his father in prison.
