Tosca opera makes debut in Toluca with 120 artists

The opera ‘Tosca’ by Giacomo Puccini will be performed in Toluca for the first time this weekend at the Teatro Morelos. The production features over 120 artists, including musicians from the Toluca Philharmonic Orchestra (OFiT), soloists, and various choral groups such as the Toluca Youth Choir.

Scheduled for Saturday at 19:00 and Sunday at 17:00, the performances will be sung in Italian with projected subtitles to assist the audience. This production is part of a decade-long operatic cycle led by the OFiT, which began with ‘Nabucco’ and has since included works like ‘Carmen’ and ‘Madama Butterfly’.

The cast includes Dhyana Arom as Floria Tosca, Alejandro Luévanos as Mario Cavaradossi, and Óscar Velázquez as Scarpia. Tickets are available for a recovery fee starting at 150 pesos.
