Toshiba launches S300 AI surveillance hard drives for retail

Toshiba has announced the availability of its S300 AI surveillance hard drives through retail and e-commerce channels. This strategic move is designed to provide system integrators, IT resellers, and security installers with easier access to AI-optimized storage solutions in smaller quantities without relying solely on wholesale distribution.

The S300 AI series is engineered to handle the complex workloads of modern video analytics, managing both sequential recording and random-access demands. The drives support up to 64 high-definition video streams alongside 32 additional AI streams. Available in capacities ranging from 8TB to 24TB, the hardware is intended for mission-critical environments in sectors such as smart cities, transportation, healthcare, finance, and logistics.

Technical specifications include a workload rating of 550TB per year and a Mean Time To Failure (MTTF) of up to 2.5 million hours. The product line also supports multi-bay RAID systems and includes a five-year limited warranty.
