Toshisuke Kanazawa competes in international bodybuilding at age 90
Japanese bodybuilder Toshisuke Kanazawa, 90, competed in the masters category for athletes aged 50 and older at an International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation competition in Santa Susanna, Spain. Despite competing against athletes decades younger, Kanazawa followed standard professional preparations, including team warm-ups and applying spray tan.
Kanazawa, a former national champion in Japan, attributes his longevity and physical conditioning to a strict traditional Japanese diet consisting of brown rice, natto, and miso soup. He stated that this dietary regimen has helped him remain healthy throughout his 90 years.
Although he did not secure a podium finish, placing sixth in his category, Kanazawa expressed his intention to continue the sport. He is currently considering one final competitive appearance at age 93 before retiring.
