TOT Sant Cugat reports fake news impersonation on WhatsApp
The news outlet TOT Sant Cugat has reported that a manipulated image mimicking its website has been circulated via WhatsApp groups. The fake image contains false information regarding the alleged theft of the foundation stone for a new Mormon temple.
TOT Sant Cugat clarified that it never published such a report and noted that the fake image uses a header that does not match its actual branding. In response to the impersonation, the publisher Totmedia has filed a formal complaint with the Mossos d'Esquadra and referred the matter to its legal services to clarify the facts.
