A total solar eclipse will occur on 12 August 2026, with the Moon’s shadow crossing northern Spain, Iceland and Greenland. Totality will last up to two minutes 18 seconds, while a deep partial eclipse will be visible across much of Europe, including an 85‑88 % coverage over the Czech Republic. Health authorities across the region warn that looking at the Sun without ISO 12312‑2 certified eclipse glasses can cause irreversible retinal damage, and the Andalusian consumer office advises using certified glasses for less than one minute at a time with regular breaks.
Local municipalities are preparing public‑viewing events. In Ribaforada, Navarra, a viewing point at the Bardenas Reales park will accommodate up to 1 500 visitors for an 81‑second totality.
