Ima Gas Project: TotalEnergies and AMNI reach $800M FID

TotalEnergies and AMNI International have reached a Final Investment Decision (FID) to develop the offshore Ima Gas Field in Nigeria. The project, valued between $800 million and $1.1 billion, aims to unlock a gas resource that was discovered in 1973 but remained undeveloped for over 50 years.

Located near Bonny Island in Rivers State, the field will be developed using a single platform connected to the Nigeria LNG (NLNG) facility via a 22-km pipeline. The project is expected to reach a plateau production of approximately 350 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, which will supply roughly one-third of the feedgas required for the NLNG Train 7 expansion project.

Production is slated to begin in 2028. The development is designed to be low-cost and low-emission, featuring shore-based electric power, zero routine flaring, and permanent methane monitoring. AMNI International holds a 60% interest in the project, while TotalEnergies holds a 40% interest. Approximately 60% of the workforce is expected to be sourced from local host communities.
