TotalEnergies secures $1.8B Africa deal and consolidates German power business
TotalEnergies has entered into a $1.8 billion partnership agreement with Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), a unit of BlackRock, regarding the company’s oil and gas infrastructure interests in Africa. The transaction is structured as a sale-and-leaseback arrangement, allowing TotalEnergies to maintain operational use of its midstream assets while receiving upfront capital. In exchange for the capital contribution, TotalEnergies will pay GIP a fee based on production volumes for a period of up to 15 years.
In Germany, TotalEnergies is consolidating its electricity business under a new organizational unit called Totalenergies Integrated Power Germany. This unit integrates the market and technology expertise of subsidiaries VSB, Kyon Energy, and Quadra Energy Sales & Origination, alongside the company’s German offshore wind activities. The restructuring aims to strengthen the company’s position across the entire electricity value chain, including renewable energy generation, battery storage, and power marketing, with a focus on providing decarbonized energy solutions.
