TotalEnergies targets net zero carbon emissions by 2050
TotalEnergies has established a target to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050 or sooner across its global operations. This commitment encompasses both direct operational emissions and indirect emissions from third parties linked to its activities.
Tai Oshisanya, Executive Director of Finance and Control and CFO of Total Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited, stated that the company aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its oil and gas facilities from 46 Mt CO2e in 2015 to 40 Mt CO2e by 2025. Additionally, the company targets a 60 percent reduction in the average carbon intensity of energy products used by its customers worldwide by 2050. By 2030, the company projects it will supply one-third more energy than in 2015 while maintaining lower emissions across its global operations.
