TotalEnergies withdraws from Vernon solar plant project

TotalEnergies has withdrawn from a project to construct a photovoltaic solar plant at the former Bourdines landfill site in Vernon, Eure. The company stated it is stepping back to focus on larger-scale projects.

The five-hectare site, which operated as a landfill between 1950 and 1996, was slated for solar development following a 2021 call for interest. TotalEnergies had previously secured a building permit and a 30-year temporary occupation authorization.

To ensure the project continues, TotalEnergies has proposed a successor. Idex Solar, a division of the Idex Group specializing in renewable energy development and operation, is set to take over as the project lead.
