Toto Wolff reveals lifelong struggle with depression

Mercedes CEO and Formula 1 team principal Toto Wolff has revealed that he has struggled with depression since the age of 18. Speaking on the High Performance Podcast, the Austrian executive described his experience as a sense of darkness and a loss of hope for the future.

Wolff explained that he initially struggled to define his emotions and often projected negative scenarios. He eventually sought professional assistance from a psychiatrist and a psychologist, which he credits with helping him gain the tools to analyze his emotions and manage his mental state without letting skepticism turn into prolonged suffering.

Wolff used his disclosure to advocate for more open dialogue regarding mental health within the Formula 1 community, noting that other drivers, such as Lewis Hamilton, have also spoken about emotional difficulties.
