Tottenham begin contract talks as Barcelona and Liverpool chase defender Micky van de Ven

Tottenham Hotspur have opened renewal negotiations with centre‑back Micky van de Ven, who is also drawing interest from Barcelona and Liverpool. The Dutch international, currently playing in the FIFA World Cup, has a contract running until 2029, but Spurs have set a £115 million asking price to deter suitors. Barcelona are identified as the most likely bidder, while Liverpool are also monitoring the situation. Tottenham consider Van de Ven a core part of their long‑term plans under manager Roberto De Zerbi and have denied any imminent departure.

Van de Ven has featured in all of the Netherlands' World Cup matches and made 35 league appearances last season, contributing four goals and solid defensive statistics. His potential transfer could set a new world‑record fee for a defender if a deal materialises.
