Tottenham Hotspur bolsters squad and unveils 2026/27 Premier League schedule

Tottenham Hotspur announced the £52 million signing of Dutch defender Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton & Hove Albion. The 26‑year‑old, a regular for the Netherlands, joins manager Roberto de Zerbi’s rebuild after consecutive 17th‑place finishes, adding depth to a back line that conceded 57 goals last season. Van Hecke will compete with Cristian Romero, Kevin Danso, Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin and new signing Marcos Senesi for a starting berth.

At the same time the club released its full 2026/27 Premier League calendar. Tottenham will open the campaign away to Brentford on 22 August, repeat a 2023‑style opener, before hosting Coventry City in October and concluding the season on 30 May with an away match at Aston Villa. The schedule release coincided with the launch of new Nike kits and underlines the club’s commercial expansion alongside its on‑field ambitions.
